"A girl can move to a new town and have "instant friendships" with girls she might never have met."
-Judy

Girl Scouting provides a unique all-girl environment.
Working in partnership with caring adults, girls can explore their potential without competition from boys—an opportunity many educators consider essential for girls to achieve future aspirations. Unlike many other youth-serving organizations, GSUSA continues to devote its total resources to the development of girls.

Girl Scouting builds girls of courage, confidence, and character, who make the world a better place.
To continue to serve the unique interests and needs of girls, a strengthened program model, with input from Girl Scouts, non-Girl Scouts, and youth development experts, is being developed.

The Girl Scout Leadership Experience meets the developmental, educational, emotional, and social needs and interests of girls ages 5 to 17.
The emerging program model will continue to provide a national framework for a consistent Girl Scout experience focused on personal growth and leadership development and differentiated more closely by age.

The Girl Scout leadership model is the new design for what girls do in Girl Scouting and how adult support can strengthen their experience. It is the road map for determining what a girl will learn and how she will be impacted. The model defines and displays all the elements that must be in place to positively impact girls' lives. The Girl Scout Leadership Development Program, then, is the model in action.

Through the Girl Scout Leadership Development Program, girls will discover their personal best and prepare for a positive future, connect with others in an increasingly diverse world, and take action to solve problems and improve their communities. Girls have told us that these opportunities matter very much to girls—both in their daily lives and as they prepare for their futures. And, with our unique focus on a By Girls, for Girls approach and cooperative and experiential learning, girls will continue to have fun, friendship, and exciting adventures.

And just something to help build your daughter's future:
Girl Scout Gold Award®
Highest Award for Girls Grades 9-12

The Girl Scout Gold Award is the highest award that Girl Scouts grades 9-12 may earn. Someone once described the Girl Scout Gold Award as being "what you really want to be remembered for" in Girl Scouting. For many, the leadership skills, organizational skills, and sense of community and commitment that come from "going for the Gold" set the foundation for a lifetime of active citizenship.

• Earning a Girl Scout Gold Award entitles recipients to scholarships at over 100 colleges and universities and higher pay upon entry into all branches of the U.S. military.
