"Camp outs and craft nights are the best!!  I always look forward to meeting nights, just to see my friends."
-Caitlyn
GSWNY Cadette Girl

Each summer hundreds of girls, just like yourself, come to our camps. Why? Because they know they will:

  • Enjoy fun and exciting activities
  • Make new friends
  • Feel good about themselves by learning new skills
  • Do things they have never done before
  • Have a GREAT time!

At camp, you will be in a unit with other girls who are of a similar age as yourself and who have signed up for the same program. Most of your activities throughout your session at camp will be done with your unit and centered around the program you selected. Of course there will plenty of time to enjoy other activities the camp has to offer.

Whether it is your first time away from home, or your first time at one of our camps you probably have lots of questions.

Getting all your questions answered is important so you can be prepared to have FUN!

Take a minute to look at some of the most frequently asked questions, but if you still have more questions, please feel free to contact the Outdoor Program Department.

What type of food will I eat?

At resident camp typical meals consist of hamburgers, spaghetti, pizza and some other favorites! There will always be one main dish, with a couple of sides available. At day camp you'll bring your lunch, (Timbercrest Day camp, girls bring their lunch everyday but Friday.  On Fridays, lunch is provided for everyone.) and snacks are served by the camp in the afternoon. If you have a specific dietary restriction, make sure you let camp know before you arrive and we will happily work with you! Don't forget to tell your counselors when you get to camp.

What if I came to camp with a friend?

If you registered for the same program with a friend, sister or cousin you will be placed in the same unit.  However, sleeping tents are on a first come, first served basis.  If your buddy is not signed for the same program as you then you will be able to visit during meals and other camp activities! Tell your parent or guardian to send your registration forms in together.

What if I came to camp alone?

Not to worry! From the time you get on the bus or arrive at camp, you will be with the other girls in your program. This is a great opportunity to make lots of new friends throughout your session at camp.

What should I bring?

When you come to camp be prepared to get dirty! Bring clothing that you won't mind if it smells of campfire, horses, or dirt. The weather at camp can change many times during the day so you are going to want to make sure you bring enough warm clothes for the evenings and to sleep in, plus extra socks! In addition, it's always a good idea to bring a picture, or stuffed animal from home to have close to you at night! Equipment lists are included in your camp confirmation packet.

What will the counselors be like?

Our counselors come from across the United States and around the world! Most of the staff is anywhere from 18-25 years old, and often times are attending college. We do have staff members that come from England, Australia, Germany, Russia or even South Africa! All of our staff has been trained with lots of games to play, songs to sing, and are excited about you coming to camp! Really, they're pretty cool.

How will my parents contact me?

Once you register for camp you will receive a confirmation packet that has all the information that your parents may need to get in contact with you. Make sure your parents or guardians have the camp address so they can send you letters and postcards from home!
