HOME scholarship shows commitment to human rights

Housing Opportunities Made Equal will award a $1,000 Joanne Champion Granger scholarship to a high school senior in Erie and Niagara County who, in addition to academic achievement has demonstrated a commitment to human rights.

The scholarship was created in honor Joanne Champion Granger, a high school science teacher and community activist. Her personal experience with housing discrimination when she first moved to Buffalo gave her the determination to work for fair housing.

Scholarship applications are due by February 17; the winner will be recognized at HOME's annual meeting in April.

For application forms, contact Grace McKenzle, education coordinator, at 854-1400, Ext. 22. Application may also be downloaded at www.homeny.org
